Alabama Youth Ballet Theatre is thrilled to announce its upcoming 2008-2009 season, beginning in December with our third annual production of The Nutcracker, A Yuletide Ballet and culminating with AYBT’s Fairytale Ballet Theatre production of The Sleeping Beauty.
For the past two years, AYBT has built upon and added to its production of the most beloved of all holiday ballets, The Nutcracker, and will present the full length ballet December 6 and 7 with three performances at the Butler Theater Auditorium (Tickets). We hear that the Nutcracker elves have been busy all year creating delicious new sets and costumes to delight even the dourest of humbugs, and of course audiences will be thrilled with fresh and whimsical choreography, presented in an intimate setting, that has become the signature of all AYBT productions.
Last year, AYBT launched a tradition of presenting family friendly yet classical ballets in its spring Fairy Tale Ballet Theatre. Cinderella was a huge success for the company and this year, The Sleeping Beauty, under the brilliant direction of David Herriott and Keren Gibb Hilliard, promises to once again delight audiences of all ages. There are a few surprises waiting in the wings for our ever growing audience of princes and princesses, so don’t miss out on the fun!
